Kamika Ekadashi : Know the Correct Meaning

Kamika means something wanted or Desire , Kamika Ekadashi is the First Ekadashi of Chaturmas , Lord Vishnu goes is Yog Nidra for 4 months and to clean past karma and get anything the Bhakt desired Lord Vishnu created this Ekadashi and Narad Muni advised Yudhishthira after Mahabharth War to observe Vrat on Kamika Ekadashi to clear all Past Bad Karma and clear Pitru Dosh by worshipping Lord Vishnu with Tulsi Leaves , Lighting Diva of Cow Ghee in front of house till there is darkness is gone by light of sun and not to consume rice.

Kamika Ekadashi Vrat : Three Main Benefits of Performing Vrat

This Ekadashi gives Benefits for Personal Desire and Past Life Sins cleaning and Graha Protection by performing Vrat and Puja on this day.

1. Desire Fulfillment

My Nani told me that "Jo bhi maan ki Iccha ho , Woh Iccha is Ekadashi ka Vrat 100% faith ke saat karne se fullfill hota hai", she said that Lord Vishnu grants everything you wish on this day from pure heart.
Lord Vishnu clears the Bad Karma's from past life , Our Pitra's stuck gets Mukti and Pitru dosh is cleared hence we get successful life.

2. Karmic Cleansing

When our Pitra are not happy then our desires are never fullfilled , there are always blockages in our life we do not get any success , Pitru Dosh comes in our work in form of Anger , Laziess , bad thoughts , Overthinking so our work is delayed and incomplete work will not give us success.

3. Cosmic Protection

Cosmic Protection is that all Graha's are placed in correct position , the Graha Dosh is removed and settled so no blockage is caused by these Graha's.

Kamika Ekadashi Vrat Katha

My Nani told me this Katha as night time story in very simple way , So there was Landlord who use to land money poor people he was Sahukaar and this name was Thakur he gave a loan amount to poor Brahmin and that Brahmin was not able to pay he loan EMI on time so some arugment happended between both of them and Powerful Wealthy Richman Thakur killed that Brahmin.
After that Killing of Hindu Priest Brahmin - Thakur's life was disturbed and trouble started soon pain , anxiety and illness entered in his life he was adviced by one Sadhu that it's the side effect of Brahmahatya.
Brahmahatya means killing of Brahmin it is considered as very bad sin which sets bad karma for entire lineage of that killer and the killers life is filled with Pitru Dosha and Graha Dosh.
Sadhu Maharaj adviced Thakur to observe Vrat and Perform Puja on Kamika Ekadashi which comes after the start of Chaturmas in month of Ashadh in Krishna Paksha it comes after Guru Purnima.
Sadhu told Thaukur that observing fast and performing puja will clear this Pitra Dosh and Graha Dosh and his entire lineage will be blessed with Lord Vishnu's blessings.

I have heared same katha linked to Mahabharata , it's my observation so please correct me if I am wrong but I feel all Ekadashi Vrat are connected to Mahabharta to please Lord Vishnu to clear from kind of sins like killing brahmins , small childrens , women in war not direct killings but killed due to war.

Kamika Ekadashi Vrat was adviced by Narad Muni to Yudhishthira after war to clear all kind of sins that were done during the war so that their all generations will not face this bad karma effect and even the Pitru Dosh will be cleared for the future and past lineage.

Narad Muni adviced Yudhishthira to these things on Kamika Ekadashi :
1. Offer Tulsi Leaves :
Offer Tulsi Leaves to Lord Vishnu and Pray to clear all Pitru Dosh and Graha Dosh from past life and future generation must not hava any kind of Pitru Dosh.
2. Avoiding rice
Muradanav (Demon) hides in grains of rice on ekadashi day ,if someone eats rice on this day that that demon creates worms in the stomach and causes pain.
3. Deepdaan
Light diya of Cow ghee in front of house so that it welcomes the positive energy and gives way to pitra to depart in swarg loka easily by creating satvik atmosphere.

Kamika Ekadashi - Complete Guide for Puja

My Nani told that in her childhood how there parents use to perform Kamika Ekadashi in village, that time the life was not that fast like today ,all people use to follow and perform all Puja and vidhi's in complete steps.

Nani told us that , they use to get up early in Brahama Muhurta and have bath wear clean Yellow color clothes , clean the puja area and using cow dung they apply it on that area.
Rangoli is drawn in front of house with yellow and red color.
Everything was kept on Chaurang,red or yellow cotton cloth was placed on it.
They use to keep Saligram to represent Lord Vishnu.
Kalash was installed before Saligram and flowers and Tulsi leaves were offered to honor Lord Vishnu.
Bhog is called as Prasad in our Satara - Pune , we offer Halva which is called as Shira or Wheat Halwa called as Lapshi its made using wheat and Jaggery, Panchamrit is also offered.
Nani use to say that one must not sleep in day time during Ekadashi and at Nani's childhood not everyone was able to read and write to they use to invite Brahmin and listen Vishnu Sahasranama and chant Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya followed by Aarti.
In evening mud Diya is lighted using Cow ghee in front of house or near Tulsi Plant Maharashtra its called as Vrindavan. Nani use to say that whole night they use to listen Katha's and Sing bhajans and on the day of Dwadashi in morning the fast was broken and then Charity was done.

Kamika Ekadashi : How is Charity (Dhaan) done

Donating , Dhaan Dharma doing on Ekadashi cleans all Pitru Dosh and gives Punya to all family members and cleans away all bad karma from all past life and bless the coming lineage.
Kamika Ekadashi is in the start of the Chaturmas so doing Daan gives 100 times more Punya (Spiritual Merit).

Kamika Ekadashi : Know the Best Time to Do Daan

Dwadashi Morning is the best time to do Daan , after breaking the Fast we must do Daan like Annadaan , Deep Daan , Vastradaan ,Chhatra Daan , Footwear Daan and Gau Seva.

1. Annadaan

Annadaan is considered as Hightest Daan we in Satara call it as Mahadaan.
Needy people give blessings soon after they eat food so it gives instant blessings. Annadaan is donating food to needy people , the food must be pure vegetarian , Rice , Wheat or flour , Fruits and Milk are donoted outside Temple or people who come outside our house.
Eating Rice is avoided on Ekadashi but donating Rice on Dwadashi gives Punya.

My Nani use to say that feeding the hungry washes away past negative karma and sins (papas).

Regular food donation purifies the mind, fosters selflessness, and helps a person attain spiritual liberation (Moksha).

In simple Language - Samruddhi Aakarshit hoti hai , my nani said that doing Annadaan Mata Annapurna nevers gives shortage of food to furture generations and Wealth.

Annadaan on Ekadashi removes all Blockages of Graha's specially Rahu and Shani Dev's negative energy's impact is lower.
3.Brings Peace :
Annadaan gives satisfcation to our Ancester's (Pitra) soul , Once Pitru gets happy there is Happiness in life and house is filled with Positive Energy.

Kamika Ekadashi : Why not to eat rice ?

There are many facts which are told as stories in villages by old age people , mu Nani use to tell us many stories to avoid eating rice on Ekadashi.
I will share only those stories that I heared from my Nani.

1. Muradanav (Demon) in Rice Grains

My Nani explained us that Muradanav Rakshas lives in Rice Grains on the day of Kamika Ekadashi , so when we consume the rice on this day the Demon enters in our stomach transforms in Worms makes trouble and pain in our stomach which disturbs our concentration and our focus us distracted.
Nani told us that even Yogis use to avoid rice on this day as that Demon use to disturb there meditation.

Muradanav was born from sweat that fell from Lord Brahma's forehead, this Demon is also known as Mura or Murdanav.,the demon is also called as Papa Purusha
There are differences in name of the Demon but main fact that my Nani convince us that not to Eat Rice on any Ekadashi.
Same story was told to me one Guruji in Wai at Satara he said the name of Demon was Annavardhu and the part was same that that demon hided in form of Rice Grain on day of Ekadashi.
Lord Vishnu ordered Papa Purusha to punish Paapi's (Sinners) and to clean all sins Lord Vishnu created Ekadashi.
Papa Purusha's life was in danger so he asked Lord Vishnu place to hide on Ekadashi so Lord Vishnu told Papa Purusha to hide in Rice Grains on day of Ekadashi and punish the person who consume Rice on his day.
