Meaning Of Swami Samarth Guru Tarak Mantra
- गुरु ब्रम्हा गुरु विष्णु, गुरु देवो महेश्वरा।
- गुरु साक्षात परब्रम्हा, तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः॥
I will put the meaning of Tarak Mantra in my ajji's words as I heard from her in my childhood and I have experienced the same.
It will be a complete explaination of Swami Samarth Guru Tarak Mantra meaning.
There will be story for every stanza of the mantra.
Swami Samarth Guru Tarak Mantra starts with Guru Vandana , lets read about it.
What is Guru Vandana and its importance in the Tarak Mantra
My Ajji told me that Guru vandana means Namaskar given to our Guru , we can say that it's Salutation, Abhivadan, Vandan or Salami.
My ajji said we have three main Guru's so by Guru Vandana we pay respect in form of Vandan , three main Gurus are Guru Brahma , Guru Vishnu and Guru Devo Maheshwara.
By Chanting Guru Vandana our energy creates Good postive light in which goal of life is visible to us then it travels is path to achieve goal of life and it destroys the bad negative thoughts of Anxiety and Overthinking.
I have personally heard Guru Vandana as Devotional Song at start of bhajan as Salutation to Three Gurudevas.
As I grew up I started reading books and listening to Kirtans , Bhajans , Parayans and kathas at Gangapur , Akkalkhot , Gangapur and various parts of places in Maharastra , karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Then I came to know more clear about it and I was able to relate all stories of by Ajji.
Guru Vadana is a Prayer written by Srila Narottama dasa Thakura in Sanskrit Language in his Holy Granth Prema-bhakti-chandrika, he describes it as offering Lotus in feet of Our Guru.
Guru Vandana is also known as Guru Mantra as its Holy Salutation to divine Trinity as Sanatan Dharma.
Importance of Guru Vandana in Swami Samarth Tarak Mantra
My Ajji told me that its like key to unlock the door to feel the divine energy of our Guru who will be like Dhaal (Shield) that will protect us from all negative thoughts and stress.
Guru Vandana is like surrender before the Holy Trinity as it shrinks down our EGO as Ego is cause by fear (Bhay).
Swami Samarth Maharaj says that "Bhiu Nako Mi Tuzya Pathichi Ahe" , which means that don't be under fear be Fearless I am with You Always if you follow the Correct Path.
You will see or hear Guru Vandana in School on Teacher's Day on 5th September which is celebrated as Birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Guru Purnima is Celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashadha (June–July).
You wil see People performing Guru Vandana at start of Play in theatre , It use to honoring Guru like in start of Classical Dance or in Village Cultural plays , a Dancer , Actor or Performer will perform Guru Vandana at start of the play to seek Blessings of Guru for the success of the play.
My Ajji taught us to do Guru Vandan each morning at start of the day so whole day must be dedicated to our Swami Samarth Guru and our mind must be full of positive thoughts so no Negative things will be done by us as in return no negative thoughts will come in our mind and we will protected by our Guru from all Negative things.
Swami Samarth Tarak Mantra Word by Word Explanation

- निशंक होई रे मना, निर्भय होई रे मना।
- प्रचंड स्वामीबळ पाठीशी, नित्य आहे रे मना।
- अतर्क्य अवधूत हे स्मर्तुगामी,
- अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।१।।
The Aashwasan (Assurance)
My Ajji used to tell that is Promise given by Swami Samarth to his Bhakts.
She said that my Chanting this first part our mind becomes fearless and doubtless as we know that Swami Samarth Guru is behind us with this immense Power and he is continuously protecting us from all negative things.
Once we became feraless our Mental Health becomes very Strong and we think Productive and Achieve our goals in life.
निशंक होई रे मना, निर्भय होई रे मना।
निशंक and निर्भय are most words on we have more attention we want to understand these two words first.
What is meaning of निशंक (Nishank) and निर्भय (Fearless) ?
I had 2 cousin there names were Shashank and Abhey we use to rhyme their names with Nishank and Nirbhay.
My Ajji told me that in Guru Tarak Mantra निशंक (Nishank) means Ni means NO and Shank means Doubt so it means नि (NO) and शंक (Shank) doubt combine it says NO - DOUBT.
Meaning of निर्भय (Fearless) , It means Abhey like my cousins name.
निशंक होई रे मना, निर्भय होई रे मना।
It means were telling ourself that without any Doubt and without any fear trust Swami Samarth Guru and begin to chant the mantra as Guru will protect you.
प्रचंड स्वामीबळ पाठीशी, नित्य आहे रे मना।
Will check its meaning in Deep
प्रचंड(Huge) स्वामीबळ(Swami Power) पाठीशी(Behind), नित्य(Continuosly) आहे रे मना।
This is like very simple breakdown done my me when I started to understand the meaning of the mantra in my childhood , this was my Indian Marathi thought process it was just translation done by searching meaning in dictonary that time Google and smartphone did not existed.
प्रचंड स्वामीबळ पाठीशी, नित्य आहे रे मना।
Its means that for Good Positive start in life do not keep doubt be fearless as behind you is Supreme Power of Swami Samarth who is continuously Protecting you from Negative Powers that come in your Path of doing Positive Karma.

Its Third Line of First Stanza of Guru Tarak Mantra , with 4 Sanskrit Words which are अतर्क्य ( Atarkya ) , अवधूत ( Avadhuta ) , हे स्मर्तुगामी ( Smartugami ).

अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी - Its Heart Beat of Tarak Mantra
Yes Of course this is the Heart Beat of the Mantra its a Promise of Swami Samarth's Power that any IMPOSSIBLE THING can become POSSIBLE in just Blink.
I have seen many people chanting or Listening to "अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी" in Trains , buses and on Street.
Everyone wants to be under Swami Samarth's Shield of Protection
अशक्य ( Ashakya ) means impossible, and it is said that Swami Samarth will make even impossible things possible.
शक्य (Shakya ) means Possible so that's it.
अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी
Swami Samarth Guru has Super Power to Convert any Impossible thing into Possible in just blink of an eye.
If you have Good Intention then trust and surrender to Swami Samarth Guru and everything will be taken care by him.
Understand the Meaning of Second Stanza The Prarabdha Mukti (The Destiny Liberator)
- जिथे स्वामीचरण तिथे न्युन्य काय,
- स्वये भक्त प्रारब्ध घडवी ही माय।
- आज्ञेवीना काळ ही ना नेई त्याला,
- परलोकी ही ना भीती तयाला
- अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।२।।
The Prarabdha Mukti
The second Stanza is refered as The Prarabdha Mukti the word has wieght in its meaning when I was just 12 year old when my Ajji was explaining this to me.
She explained me in very simple Bhasha , Ajji said that once you surrender yourself in Swami Samarth's Feet you do not need Fake power of thw world all your wishes are fullfilled by Swami Samarth.
Swami Samarth is so Powerful that he can rewrite to Bad Destiny to Good Destiny , Swami will protect his Bhakt even from Kaal (Death) , his Bhakt will be protected even after Death.
This most Impossible thing that can be turned into Possible in just Blink by Swami Samarth Guru.
Let's decode each line of this stanza.
जिथे स्वामीचरण तिथे न्युन्य काय
In this line you will find the hard word is न्युन्य ( Nyunyata ) it means Shortage, Deficiency, or Incompleteness.
This line tells in Presence of Swami Samarth's feet there is unlimited source of Happiness and Prosperity.
स्वये भक्त प्रारब्ध घडवी ही माय।
In this line Swami Samarth is refered as माय ( Maay ) means Mother Who has Power to Change ( प्रारब्ध ) Destiny of Bhakt who follows Teachings of Swami Samarth.
आज्ञेवीना काळ ही ना नेई त्याला
This one is little simple to understand but has extremely Powerful message its show to Even Kaal (God of Death) takes permission of Swami Samarth to take Soul of his Bhakt.
परलोकी ही ना भीती तयाला
The word परलोकी ( Parloki ) means life after Death , Well this line in Mantra tells that Swami Samarth Protects Bhakt not only in living life but also after life Swami Samarth's Protection remains Nitya ( Continuous )like Shield ( Dhaal ).
अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।२।।
Its a Signature to remind Bhakt that Swami Samarth can change Impossible to Possible with his Power , this line give Strong Assurance to Bhakt yo remain Fearless without Doubt.
This line repeats at end of every Stanza.
Understanding the Third Stanza Of Tarak Mantra ( The Atma-Bodha )
- उगाची भितोसी भय हे पळु दे,
- वसे अंतरी ही स्वामीशक्ति कळु दे।
- जगी जन्म मृत्यु असे खेळ ज्यांचा,
- नको घाबरू तू असे बाळ त्यांचा
- अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।३।।
The third Stanza is ( Atma - Bodh ) means self- knowledge to Bhakt that Do not be afraid of useless fear in your mind as Divine Swami Samarth is Nitya ( Continuous ) protecting you , there mantra conveys message that Birth and Death like a Simulation Game ( खेळ - Khell ) which is controlled by Swami Samarth.
उगाची भितोसी भय हे पळु दे,
This is line is Ignorance towards Negative thoughts उगाची भितोसी means Unnessary Worries and ( भय ) is Fear so main purpose of this line is
that we not take unnecessary stress by Overthing about Past and Future just Ignore and Continue to Work on Right Path of your Karma.
वसे अंतरी ही स्वामीशक्ति कळु दे।
When I read Swami Samarth Tarak Mantra for first time when I was in 7th Standard in was me reading Sanskrit for the first time I was enjoying as I was able to read Fourth langauge after English , Hindi and Marathi.
I was able to read but was able to understand it so translated Sanskrit words in English Words with help of my parents and elder siblings then took help of dictonary and was able to understand it so I am trying to conevy in same way as it feels very simple to understand and connect our childhood memories.
वसे अंतरी means Vase ( वसे ) ( Lives ) and Antari ( अंतरी ) means ( Inside ) the meaning of this line is Swami Samarth Bhakt has Divine Power of Swami Samarth with them and also Inside them which says that Swami Samarth Protects you by making you Powerful to destroy Hard and Impossible challenges of life.
Its Assures Swami Bhakt that स्वामीशक्ति ( Swami Shakti ) is there inside you for your Protection.
Its like giving Power to Bhakt to become Atma Nirbhar .
जगी जन्म मृत्यु असे खेळ ज्यांचा
This was our way to understand meaning of Tarak Mantra in our School days जगी ( Universe ) जन्म ( Birth ) मृत्यु ( Death ) असे ( Like that ) खेळ ( Game ) ज्यांचा ( His ).When I was in 8th Standard my cousin has Chanted this mantra in Our Soicety's Mahapuja on 26th Januray on Republic Day ( Gantantra Divas ).
So yes the meaning is simple clear and Easy but has very Strong message that proves Limitless Power that in this Endless Universe Birth and Death is like Game for him as if Swami Samarth has control over each Parallel Universe.
To have such Immense Power Swami Samarth I see him as The Master of the Multiverse.
नको घाबरू तू असे बाळ त्यांचा
Now this One is like Motivation given to Swami Bhakt like नको ( Nako ) घाबरू ( Afraid ) तू असे बाळ ( Baal - Child ) त्यांचा .
Swami Bhakt should be afraid of noting as Swami Samarth is Protecting You as his Child always.
If You keep this in your mind always then you will be fearless to take any Good decision in your life without any doubt as you will not have any kind of Mental Stress after chanting the Mantra reguraly.
अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।३।।
It is a Signature with Authority that the Stanza sounds to impossible without Swami Samarth's Blessing.
Understanding 4th Stanza which refers as The Shraddha - Jagran
- खरा होई जागा श्रद्धेसहित,
- कसा होसी त्याविण तू स्वामिभक्त।
- आठव! कितीदा दिली त्यांनीच साथ,
- नको डगमगु स्वामी देतील हात
- अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।४।।
This Stanza is like to follow the teachings so Awake with faith in Swami Samarth as now you are Swami Bhakt and Its says आठव! (Remember !) how many Swami Samarth has saved from Impossible situation so hence forward remember the Karma Path will be Hard but Swami Samarth will always pe there to Protect you.
The Whole Stanza is Shraddha-Jagran (Faith Awaking ) and it can be activated by remembering the Good things done by our Swami.
खरा होई जागा श्रद्धेसहित
Khara hoi Jaaga Shraddhye-Sahit it means that Real Swami Samarth Bhakt will Awake Sincerely with Faith.
It is direct message that One has start the Jounrey with Faith as he is Blessed with Ashirwad of Swami Samarth.
कसा होसी त्याविण तू स्वामिभक्त
This line is refering to first time of this Stanza that if you are self awake with Faith in Swami Samarth then only you can be स्वामिभक्त ( Swami Bhakt ).
To Prove that you have surrender youself in Swami Samarth's feet with trust and faith that you are Swami Bhakt.
आठव! कितीदा दिली त्यांनीच साथ
It is reminding the Swami Bhakt that आठव! (Atthav) meaning Remember that its not First Time Swami Samarth had help you in your Hard times , many times Swami Samarth Maharaj has helped you , He is helping you and will always Be there to Protect you.
नको डगमगु स्वामी देतील हात
नको ( Nako - No ) डगमगु ( Dagmagu - Doubting ) स्वामी देतील हात ( Swami will give Hand )
The message is clear to Swami Bhakt that Swami Samarth is will Protect you will secure you from any hard sitution do not Doubt and don't be Distracted by any negative thought in mind.
I have met MBBS Docter I cannot share his name but he said Swami Samarth Guru Tarak Mantra Listening or Chanting can cure Mental Fatigue.
अशक्य ही शक्य करतील स्वामी ।।४।।
This Line acts as Seal of Security or Guarantee by the Master of Multiverse.
The Last Stanza of Swami Samarth Tarak Mantra The Prachiti (Vibhooti naman)
- विभूति नमननाम ध्यानार्थी तीर्थ,
- स्वामीच त्या पंचामृतात
- हे तीर्थ घेइ आठवी रे प्रचिती,
- ना सोडती तया, जया स्वामी घेती हाती ।।५।।
In the last Stanza it all about the Prachiti ( Experience ), the previous Stanza we have awaken with faith now its time for action by applying विभूति ( Vibhuti - Holy Ash ) , नमननाम ( Naman - Naam ) Blow before Swami Samarth Chanting his Name and Drinking Holy तीर्थ ( Tirth ) an by drinking the tirth feel and experience that Swami will never leave Bhakt alone in any kind of negative sitution.
विभूति नमननाम ध्यानार्थी तीर्थ
I lived in Worli so on Tuesdays we use to go to Siddhivinyak Mandir at Prabhadevi and after darshan Pandit use to apply Sindhur on our forehead and on Thursday we use to visit Samarth Samarth Math at Dadar near Shivsena Bhavan so in Math they use to Apply ASH and it was called as विभूति ( Vibhuti ).
So later as I grew up I came to know that विभूति ( Vibhuti ) is also known as Bhasma but in Math they use the Ash that remained after Holy Homa , It was remains of Ash of Ahuti given in Homa of Cow dung , Sandal wood and ghee and other Home samagri.
My Ajji use to bring Vibhuti from Akkalkhot and use to apply on our forehead in middle of Eyes she used to say that is Protection and Swami Samarth is present in this Holy Vibhuti as it made up of Paanch Mahabhut five elements that is
- Prithvi (Earth) : The Cow Dung and Sandalwood
- Agni (Fire) : The Homa fire that purifies
- Jala (Water) : The Ghee and the moisture in the offerings
- Vayu (Air) : The smoke carrying the Mantras into the atmosphere
- Akash (Space) : The vacuum/ash that remains
नमननाम
Well नमननाम Naman - Naam are two actions as have done research so Naman is bowing before Swami by leaving our Ego behind and Chanting Swami Samarth Name is Naam so bowing and Chanting is what the real meaning is.
So its Phyical and Mental action its like Spiritual Multi tasking to clean mind from Negative thoughts.
ध्यानार्थी
This is process after Namannaam we have to visualize Swami Samarth by doing Meditation Dhyan feel his presence before us.
तीर्थ ( Tirth )
Tirth is Holy water collected from Swami Samarth's Abhishek with Milk , Curd , Ghee , Tulsi Leaves and Honey.
Tirth is Charged with energy of Swami Samarth by which we get Protection.
विभूति नमननाम ध्यानार्थी तीर्थ
Is a process Apply Vibhuti on Forehead as Sheild of Swami Samarth then take bow before Swami Samarth and Chant his name to visualize Swami Samarth by doing Meditation Dhyan feel his presence before us and then drink Tirth.
स्वामीच त्या पंचामृतात
The lines says that
स्वामीच Swamich Tya पंचामृतात
Tirth is made up of Ghee , Milk , Curd , Honey and Tulsi Paan so its called as पंचामृतात ( Panchamrut ).
So the Panchamrut has Swami Samarth in it that acts like fuel ot generate Good Thoughts in our mind.
हे तीर्थ घेइ आठवी रे प्रचिती,
My ajji use to give homemade Tirth after doing Abhishek of Swami Samarth and she use to tell us after drinking it you will feel the experince of power of Swami Samarth it was to give Strength to mind.
ना सोडती तया, जया स्वामी घेती हाती
Swami Samarth will never ever leave Swami Bhakts Hand in any Sitution that the Promise given by Swami Samarth.
In this post I have given by experince about Swami Samarth in real way from real people some information was taken from their Point of view and their Thought process that kept there Faith in Swami Samarth.
