What is Mahasamadhi ?

Lets first tell you meaning of Mahasamadhi in way I know it , So when Mahaan (Divine) Saint leave his physical body with full consciousness without any kind of Rog (Diseases) or any medical conditions , like voluntary exit is Mahasamadhi.
My Ajji told me that Swami Samarth wanted to reach out each and every Bhakt to protect them 24/7 , his Bhakts (Devotees) were not only in Akkalkot but everywhere ,number of Bhakts was going to increase everyday so Swami Samarth Maharaj came of his physical body , now Swami Samarth is everywhere in Universe to Protect his Bhakts.

Swami Samarth Punyatithi is Celebrated as Mahasamadhi Utsav

In Akkalkot every year on Swami Samarth Punyatithi there are many Special Puja's , Hawan , Aarti, and Abhishekam to the Paduka , reading of the Shree Swami Charitra Saramrut, and a Palakhi procession.
Its a Celebration as Swami Samarth Entered the Divine Universe for his Bhakts.

Why Swami Samarth Maharaj Accepted Mahasamadhi on Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi

In Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi , Trayodashi is 13th Lunar Day in Hindu Calender so its like 13th Lunar Day Trayodashi , 14th Lunar Day Chaturdashi and 15th is Amavasya.
Trayodashi is always dedicated to Lord Shiva प्रदोषम (Pradosham)
On this Lord Shiva is Worshipped as मुक्तिनाथ ( Muktinath ) by his Super Power and Grace he clears all Black karma of aur Pitra and allowing them to enter Swarg Lok (Heaven).

Mahasamadhi Seva - Pitru Dosh Nivaran Connections with Lord Dattatreya Lineage

I will share a small talk that I had with Guruji at Godavari Ghat at Nasik at Kalaram Mandir in 2003 , Guruji told us that Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi is day to worship our Pitra (Spirits of Departed Ancestors) so that Lord Shiva can clean and forgive all Sins and send them to Swarg (Hevan).
So Guruji explained us that when we do Swami Samarth Punyatithi Seva then we worship Complete Lord Dattatreya Lineage.
Guruju guided us to do Pitru Pooja on same day at home and it will be Pitru Nivaran for us , Our Pitra will be benefited from this pooja and all sins will be cleared and enter Swarg lok.

Pitru Dosh Nivaran Pooja At Srisailam on Swami Samarth Mahasamadhi Ustav

On Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi in Akkalkot is celebrated as Mahasamadhi Ustav and On same tithi in Srisailam is observed as प्रदोष व्रत ( Pradosh Vrat ) its Vrat (Fasting) dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Pradosh Vrat is observed without water its called निर्जला ( Nirjala )and food is consume only after the Evening Pooja.
Pradosh Vrat and Swami Samarth Mahasamadhi are on Chaitra Vadya Trayodashi as on this Tithi Lord Shiva is in Param Ananda (Very Happy Mood) , dancing the Ananda Tandava on Mount Kailash.

Mahasamadhi Importance in Science of Yoga

Mahasamadhi in simple language is Great Samadhi or it can seen as Great Union , Only Enlightened Yogi with Divine Power a Spiritual Master can do voluntary exit from voluntary exit from the physical body in full consciousness.
Practitioner has fully conquered karma and no longer requires rebirth can accept Mahasamadhi, this form of Yoga is the Ultimate act of Liberation also it can be called as yoga to achive Mokshya - Nirvana.
It is आध्यात्मिक साधना (Spiritual Practice ) , Yogi dissolves the Ego and breaks the Chains of Birth and Deaths it is a Ultimate Peak of Liberation.
Yogi leaves the Prana from his body through Brahmarandhra its Tenth Door its at top of head the soft part its considered the highest exit point for the soul.

Brahmarandhra connection with Mahasamadhi

Brahmarandhra is The Tenth Gate (Dasam Duar) it is the hidden gate in Marathi is called टाळू ( Taalu ) , In Sikhism and Yogic traditions is it called as Dasam Duar.
It is located above the head known as Crown Chakra , small child on head is soft area that is the location of the Tenth Gate in medical term is is called as Fontanelle its a exit station from where the Pran departs traveling through spine with Central Energy of Sushumna Nadi.
To accept Mahasamadhi the 10th Gates needs to be open which remains closed in ordinary life only Great Divine Mahayogi like Swami Samarth have Opened it through meditation, devotion, and Guru's grace, allowing the soul to experience spiritual enlightenment and connect with the Divine.

Swami Samarth Sandhyakaal (Evening) for time for Mahasamadhi in Pradosh Kaal at 4:00 PM.
in this time Sushumna Nadi becomes active as for few minutes both nostrils flow equally and Sushumna Nadi is like highway to reach Brahmarandhra.
Swami Samarth Maharaj used the natural rhythm of the Earth to exit their Prana through the Tenth Gate.
Sandhyakaal is the time in which संधिप्रकाश (Twilight) is Permeable (Anything can pass through it easily) , its the time when राजसिक ( Rajasic ) Active energy of Sun Light meets तामसिक ( Tamasic ) Dark energy of Night creating a सात्विक ( Sattvic ) (pure) window.

This is my Observation in 2026 just check if its matching you vibe , A husband has a Job in top company 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM he leaves home at 08:00 AM in morning on the way to office he has to face traffic , bad roads , other drivers's attitude , sometime fights , vehical breakdown and whole day in office he undergoes from lot of work-pressure , this teams target , meetings , plannings ,lust, greed, office gossips , office politics , flirting , fightings so in office so this energy is at the Peak and this is राजसिक ( Rajasic ) Guna.
Now once Husband reaches homes he gets relax no traffics , no bad roads , noting about work everythings remains under his control he can do whatever he wants so this is सात्विक ( Sattvic ) Guna. Afer sometimes his wife returns home from her office with kids and then planning starts and some issues starts with debate and then in arguments , sometimes turns into fight with bad words so then he drinks and smokes this is तामसिक ( Tamasic ) Guna.

We must celebrate its as Swami Samarth Mahasamadhi Utsav and Do Mahasamadhi Seva at Home and Observe whole day fast without Water so that all block path to Swarg lok will be cleared with Grace of Lord Shiva and our Pitra will get Swarg lok entry and we have to to Pitra Dosh Nivran puja at home.
